Center Theatre sending out custom video messages

DOVER-FOXCROFT — As part of the Keep In Touch Campaign, the Center Theatre is launching a service to send custom video messages via email or Facebook messenger. The videos, which can be requested for a $10 donation at centertheatre.org, can be sent to a friend, family member or even to yourself and can be to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or just to try to keep in touch while we’re all keeping our distance.

Patrick Myers, the Center Theatre’s executive director, said the program aims to not only brighten people’s days, but also to give isolated performers a way to express themselves and use their talents.

“There are so many actors, singers, and artists in our community who would love to put their talents to a good cause,” he said. “We’re hoping to give them a chance with these online videos. For just a $10 donation you can tell us what sort of a message you want and we’ll find someone to record something for you. Those artists will send the video to the Center Theatre and we’ll send it to whoever you want.”

The Theatre plans to keep up the service as long as it is closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The program complements the Keep in Touch on the Marquee efforts which has given dozens of people the opportunity to put a custom message on the Center Theatre marquee. The Center Theatre is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a mission to make arts, education, and entertainment accessible to our rural communities to engage and inspire. The Theatre would like to remind everyone that as part of the COVID-19 federal relief efforts, individuals can deduct an additional $300 from their 2020 taxes for donations to support non-profit organizations regardless of whether they itemize or use the standard deduction.
