Center Theatre helps communities keep in touch

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Center Theatre announced that they are asking for volunteers to help communities keep in touch while we are all keeping our distance. According to Patrick Myers, the Center Theatre executive director, the Theatre is working to help people stay connected  and hopefully bring a little joy into their daily life.

“The idea was inspired by the stories of birthday parades and drive-by singing that have happened spontaneously in the area,” he said. “We are asking people to sign-up to be part of a program to do this on request. For a $10 donation, folks will be able to request either a drive-by performance by an individual or small family group, or request a unique video with a personal dedication that will be sent via email.” Myers also said the Theatre has also made its marquee available for personal messages for a donation of $25.

KEEP IN TOUCH PROGRAM — A recent message on the Center Theatre marquee encourages people to maintain their physical distance, but to keep in touch with each other. The ‘Keep In Touch’ program at the Theatre will work to do just that.

Volunteers will be asked to fill out a brief online survey and submit a short video of their particular talent. Singing may be the first thing that comes to mind, but Myers said that any talent would be welcome. The Theatre is hoping to connect with community volunteers over the next week or two before making the service available to the public.

More information on the program can be found on the theatre’s website at CenterTheatre.org by clicking the “Keep in Touch” link at the top of the page. The Center Theatre is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a mission to make arts, education and entertainment accessible to nearby rural communities to engage and inspire.
