DOVER-FOXCROFT — The March 3 meeting of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC)/Miosac Club was held at Thayer Parkway. The evening’s hostesses were Wendy Hutchins and Roxy McGlauflin. The program chairm was Minnie McCormick.
The meeting was called to order by President Suzanne Raymond and the Club Collect, Pledge of Allegiance and America’s Creed were led by McCormick.
Anne Cress led a prayer for Greg and Cathie Goodine for the loss of their child.

Diane Leighton did the roll call asking for a reply on our favorite bird. She read the secretary’s report and it was accepted and filed.
The treasurer’s report was given by Cress, accepted and filed.
Brenda Quiet of the advisory committee announced that the next meeting was scheduled for March 17 with hostesses Cress and herself. Program chair is Vicki Moschella. She is the new publicity person and said she needs to catch up after having some computer problems.
Some of the members had an American Legion “road trip” to play Bingo on Thursday evening, March 5.
Rheba Michaud has volunteered to chair any activities at Marion Doore Park — thank you.
A new nominating committee has volunteered to find new officers for the next two years, 2020-22. They are Quiet, Leighton and Moschella.
The new budget committee is Cress, McCormick and Michaud.
The new advisory committee is Raymond, McGlauflin and Cathy Cody.
The Maude McKenzie Scholarship and Educational Loan Fund applications are ready for distribution to Maine students. Raymond passed them out. Leighton took some to Foxcroft Academy and Hutchins has the family applications to distribute to those who ask for them within the GFWC/Miosac Club.
The yearly Pinwheel Garden will be up and spinning in April to emphasize Prevent Child Abuse America chaired by McCormick.
She brought in and made three baby blankets to be donated to Northern Light Mayo Hospital. Cody will deliver them.
The meeting was adjourned and handed over to guest Nancy Grant who delighted with pictures and information about Sir Harry Oakes’ time living in Michigan. She did a tour completely around Lake Superior starting in Michigan and continued through several states and Canada before returning. Copper and other minerals are mined in the state and is a huge business.
Hospice Trivia Night, which was supposed to take place on March 14, was cancelled because of the coronavirus. The district meeting to be held on April 9 has also been cancelled.
