Center Theatre 2nd screen delayed by coronavirus

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Center Theatre had hoped to open the new 2nd screen in mid-April, but unfortunately that will no longer be possible. Due to the global COVID 19 pandemic, the Theatre is now closed and some of the vendors working on the second screen have had to push back their start dates.

SCREEN DELAY — Because of delays brought on by the COVID 19 pandemic, the Center Theatre has had to delay the opening of the 2nd Screen that had been planned for around mid-April.

“In the big scheme of things, the delay to our 2nd screen is fairly unimportant,” said Patrick Myers, the executive director of the Center Theatre. “However, we know how much people were looking forward to it so we wanted them to know how the pandemic is affecting our plans. Not only has some of our funding been delayed because of various offices and agencies closing and transitioning to working from home, but the projection and sound equipment is being delivered and installed by a team from Kansas. They are understandably delaying their trip until the current crisis has passed.”

Myers was unable to say when the 2nd screen would be opened, but he said he hopes once everything returns to normal the Theatre would be able to reopen with both screens in operation.

The Center Theatre has also had to cancel or postpone several events including a performance by the Bangor Ballet and the Theatre’s own April Vacation Drama Camp. The Theatre is still employing their staff who are working from home and behind closed doors on various projects around the Theatre.
