D-F Firefighters Association Ice Fishing Derby returns this weekend

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Anglers are invited to Sebec Lake for the ninth annual Dover-Foxcroft Firefighters Association Ice Fishing Derby on Saturday, Feb. 29 and Sunday, March 1.

 

Derby hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, with the weigh station located at Greeley’s Landing.

D-F FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION DERBY RETURNS — The Dover-Foxcroft Firefighters Association’s ninth annual ice fishing derby returns on Saturday, Feb. 29 and Sunday, Mardh 1 at Sebec Lake with the weigh station open during the day at Greeley’s Landing. Two years ago Andy Dever earned top honors in the senior division with this 13.7-pound togue.

 

Registration tickets are one for $3 or two for $5. Tickets include derby entry and shore prizes. The shore prize drawing will be Sunday at noon with over $2,700 in total cash prizes — great shore prizes too. 

 

Tickets are available at Mountain’s Market, Misty Morning Bait Shop, C & J Variety, Sebec Country Store, fire department members and at the weigh station during the derby. For more information, please contact Joe at 207-343-2267.

 

All state of Maine ice fishing laws and rules will apply.

 

Across the lake from the weigh station, a “Fishing Derby Feast” to support Bowerbank Fire and Rescue will be held from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 29 at the Bowerbank Fire Station, 650 Bowerbank Road.

 

The Fishing Derby Feast will feature breakfast, lunch and dinner and delivery is available so those fishing do not go hungry on the ice. Snowmobilers are welcome, follow signs from Sebec Lake between Clark Cove and Newell Cove to the Pine Knoll Road.
