FA swims at PVC meet

ORONO — The Foxcroft Academy girls picked up 29 points to place eighth among 10 teams at  the 2020 Penobscot Valley Conference Swimming and Diving Championships on Feb. 8 at the University of Maine. The Ponies finished just ahead of the 28 points for George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill and the six points for 10th-place Searsport District High School.

 

A pair of Foxcroft relays finished eighth. In the 200-yard medley relay, Amy Waugh, Olivia McCorrison, Laney Reardon and Abby Kemp combined for a time of 2 minutes, 32.99 seconds.

 

Also placing eighth was the 400 free relay — comprised of Waugh, Reardon, McCorrison and Kemp — in 5:14.80.

 

Foxcroft’s 200 free relay finished ninth as Hannah Vail, Dayita Durachman, Rotem Wasserberg and Rachel Mullis turned in a time of 2:33.33

 

Reardon added a 12th-place swim in the 100 butterfly at 1:14.84.

 

The Mount Desert Island High School girls claimed the team championship with 323 points, followed by 234 points for Bangor High School and 212 for Ellsworth High School.

 

The Foxcroft Academy boys finished 12th among a field of 12 schools.  The Ponies scored 22 points.

 

Foxcroft’s 400-yard freestyle relay team led the way with an eighth-place performance as Triston Green, Hunter Kemp, Jacob Cook and Jesse Drury combined for a time of 4 minutes, 32.73 seconds.

 

Green also came in ninth in the 100 backstroke at 1:09.27.

 

The Pony 200 free relay squad — Drury, Yao Li, Sam Bitat and Cook — placed ninth at 2:13.01.

 

In the boys’ meet the same three teams finished on top as MDI accumulated 333 points, followed by 234 for Bangor and 212 for Ellsworth.
