PRYMCA Waves pair swims at all-star meet 

LEWISTON — Piscataquis Regional YMCA Waves swim team members Jacob Cook and Dean Gallagher were invited to compete on a team representing Northern Maine Division swimmers in the Tom Manduca Memorial 19th annual YMCA All-Star Meet, hosted by the Twin Cities Swim Team at Bates College on Sunday, Feb. 2. Swimmers representing the Northern, Southern and Central Divisions of Maine were invited to compete in the meet based on their best times prior to Jan. 5. The top two swimmers in each event competed on behalf of their division.

 

Cook swam the 100 free, 100 breaststroke and 200 free relay. He swam his personal best times in both the 100 free at 1 minute, 11.33 seconds and 100 breaststroke at 1:20.00, cutting over seven seconds between the two events.

Gallagher swam the 50 fly at 43.16 seconds, his personal best time this season, placing third overall for the age 9-10 boys. Gallagher’s 200 free relay team placed first overall for the age group.

 

Head Coach Britney Gallagher expressed her pride in both swimmers, “We’re so proud to have two of our swimmers invited to compete with the top swimmers across the state. Dean and Jacob have worked incredibly hard this season.” 

 

Cook and Gallagher will compete with the Waves at the state championship meet  Feb. 28 to March 1 at the University of Maine in Orono.
