Piscataquis County Democrats gear up for caucuses  

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Piscataquis County Democrats gathered to prepare for the upcoming March 8 caucuses on Jan. 18 at party headquarters on North Street. April Thibodeau from the Maine Democratic Party provided training to conveners from virtually every town in the county.

 

Caucuses will be held in four communities on the afternoon of Sunday, March 8 following the primary on Tuesday, March 3. Democrats will gather to elect delegates to the state convention, to form municipal committees, to indicate their support for their chosen candidate and to share conversation and refreshments.

CAUCUS PREPARATIONS — Piscataquis County Democrats met on Jan. 18 at party headquarters in Dover-Foxcroft to prepare for next month’s caucuses on Sunday, March 8 at several locations around the region.

 

Caucus times and locations include: Greenville, Bartley Event Center at 1 p.m, doors open at noon. Voters from Greenville, Shirley, Beaver Cove, Monson and Willimantic should attend this caucus. Democrats from Guilford, Parkman, Sangerville, Wellington, Kingsbury Plantation and Abbot will caucus at PCHS in Guilford at 2 p.m. with doors opening at 1 pm.  Dover-Foxcroft Democrats will gather with Atkinson, Sebec and Bowerbank voters at the municipal office on Morton Avenue in Dover-Foxcroft with doors opening at 1 p.m. and the caucus convening at 2 p.m. Milo, Brownville, Lakeview Plantation and Medford Democrats will meet at the Milo Town Hall at 1 p.m. with doors opening at noon.

 

All local Democrats are encouraged to participate in their local caucuses. Individuals who are not yet registered voters, may register anytime prior to the caucuses, including on March 8.  Municipal clerks will be present to register anyone who will be 18 by the November election and who are currently unenrolled in a political party. Voters currently enrolled in another party who would like to participate in the Democratic primary and caucus can do so if they change their party affiliation by Feb. 14. Individuals can register to vote or change their party affiliation at their municipal office

 

Registered Democrats who plan to participate in their local caucus are encouraged to pre-register at mainedems.org/primary-caucus

 

Pre-registration will save time on the day of the caucuses and will provide the voter with information required in order to participate. More information is available from the Secretary of State’s Office at maine.gov/sos/cec/elec/upcoming/index.html and from mainedems.org.
