New owner, new name for Dover-Foxcroft salon

DOVER-FOXCROFT — For 15 years Joanne Adkins has owned and operated the Wild Monkey Salon on West Main Street. On Dec. 1, 2019 the business was purchased by Miranda Nicole Durant, from Guilford, who renamed it Primpin’, Ain’t Easy or simply Primpin’.

“My goal is to make each client feel excited and confident when they walk out the door,” Durant said. “I want the women to feel sassy and beautiful,  and the men to feel confident and handsome. My favorite remark I love to hear is ‘ It’s perfect!!’ or ‘I love it.’ I truly thrive for that.

NEW SALON OWNER — Last month Miranda Nicole Durant purchased the Wild Monkey Salon on West Main Street in Dover-Foxcroft from long-time owner Joanne Adkins. Durant has renamed the salon as Primpin’, Ain’t Easy or simply Primpin’.

“The No. 1 one thing I, and most everyone that sits in my chair, thinks is that I am detailed. It just has to be as perfect as it can be. I don’t just rush through a cut. I take the time to deliver what they are looking for. My name is on that head, and it’s my billboard. I have to make sure I love it and most importantly they do too.”

Services are offered for the entire family at Primpin’, specializing in cuts, colors, makeup application, waxing, special occasion up-dos and hair extension applications. Plans are to offer manicure services in the near future.

OWNERS PAST AND PRESENT — Miranda Nicole Durant, standing, is the new owner of the former Wild Monkey Salon in Dover-Foxcroft, purchasing the establishment from Joanne Adkins. In addition to the new ownership the salon has a new name, Primpin’, Ain’t Easy or simply Primpin’.

Durant said Adkins’ salon was known for being walk in based, with appointments as well, and she plans to continue this, saying she loves the walk in-style with these customers generally being very relaxed.
