Martin, Sipple win indoor track events

ORONO — The Foxcroft Academy boys finished sixth among nine schools with a score of 33 points during a Penobscot Valley Conference/Eastern Maine Indoor Track League meet on Dec. 28 at the University of Maine.

 

Pony junior Logan Martin won both the 55 meters and long jump to pace the team. In the 55-meter finals, Martin’s winning time was 6.88 seconds, just ahead of the 6.92 seconds for Old Town High School senior Wayne Dorr.

 

Martin had a distance of 19 feet, 1.5 inches in the long jump to best event runner-up, Old Town freshman Corbin Flewelling, by 6.5 inches

 

Martin also came in sixth in the 200 with a time of 25.38 seconds.

 

Foxcroft junior Jacob Reed placed third in the high jump at 5-08. Senior Hunter Clarke finished fourth in the 200 at 25.07 seconds and he was fifth in the 55 meters with a time of 7.17 seconds.

 

In the girls meet, Piscataquis Community High School had 10 points to place seventh among nine schools.

 

PCHS freshman Molly Sipple picked up all 10 points with her first-place performance in the 55 meters. Sipple had a time of exactly 8 seconds, besting the 8.02 seconds for runner-up Old Town junior Madyson Redding.
