D-F women’s club resumes meetings

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Thirteen General Federal of Women’s Clubs/Miosac Club members gathered at Thayer Parkway for a “souper supper” prepared by the advisory committee Roxy McGlauflin, Brenda Quiet and Betsey Ryan; served with breads, pickles and cookies.

Following the meal, President Suzanne Raymond called the meeting to order. Anne Cress led the Club Collect, American’s Creed and Pledge of Allegiance.

Secretary Diane Leighton took roll call with members saying a name they would choose for themselves if they could. She then read the minutes of the last meeting with no corrections. Corresponding secretary McGlauflin read thank yous from Rheba Michaud and Minnie McCormick for flowers they received following surgeries, and one from Barbara Moore for all the work the club does.

Treasurer Pat Jones gave her final treasurer’s report as she is moving to York. Members voted that Cress replace her.

Advisory Chair Quiet gave her report, noting that Michaud will be in charge of the program and hostesses will be Dot Tonick and Barb Austin. Jones reported on the Marion Doore Park and thanked those who helped water it this summer. She said it still looks good.

McCorrmick noted she had not had any reports of illnesses since the porch party. She did report on the porch party held at McGlauflin’s in September. Cress notified the members that the husband of one of the GFWCMaine officers had passed away rather suddenly. McCormickwill send a sympathy card from the club.

McGlauflin reported on the community directory that members worked on during the summer. They lost a few ads but picked up some new ones to be successful. They will go to print and then be available to anyone who wants one. It is very easy to read as it is printed on a large surface and you don’t have to look through pages to find the service, Thanks go to all who took out an ad.

Pine Tree Hospice is sponsoring another Trivia Night. A team was not formed but members volunteered to provide snacks and some will be runners. Members voted to have a tree for the SeDoMoCha Builders Club at Christmas.
