Dexter and FA run at Festival of Champions

BELFAST — The Dexter Regional High School and Foxcroft Academy cross country teams ran with some of the top teams from Maine and beyond at the 2019 Maine Cross Country Festival of Champions on Oct. 5 at Troy Howard Middle School.

In the overall boys standings, Dexter finished 60th of 67 teams with a score of 1,667 points.

Freshman Payson Rienhardt led the Tigers by finishing 168th overall among 1,000 entrants. Rienhardt covered the course in 18 minutes, 26.07 seconds.

The other four point-scorers were junior Michael Gadwah, 331st at 19:34.16; sophomore Nickolas Gallighan, 508th at 20:42.68; sophomore Miles Gadwah, 733rd at 22:22.72; and senior Augustus Irwin, 887th at 24:45.26.

Dexter also had freshmen David Race and Christian Gallant run, and they were 896th at 25:02.55 and 975th at 29:59.46 respectively.

The Foxcroft boys finished 67th with 2,084 points.

Pony junior Corey Merrill had his team’s top performance by placing 479th at 20:36.23. The other four runners were senior Pablo Delgata, 622nd at 21:28.81; sophomore Aiden Currie, 803rd at 23:13.37; senior Jasper Makowski, 903rd at 25:21.80; and freshman Joseph Nelson, 939th at 26:33.91.

Seven girls from Dexter and Foxcroft ran on Saturday in Belfast.

Tiger freshman Emma Alexander was 400th among 644 entrants with a time of 25:29.63. Classmate Annika King was 403rd at 25:31.54, sophomore Caroline Lambert was 624th at 36:42.42 and freshman Breanna Thompson came in 627th at 37:29.

For Foxcroft, junior Kaylee Durgin placed 452nd overall with her time of 26:09.73. Pony sophomore Makayla Landry was 493rd at 26:54.16 and sophomore Olivia McCorrison finished 532nd at 27:59.14.
