Pine Tree Hospice offers Growing Through Grief

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Growing Through Grief is one of Pine Tree Hospice’s new Adult Bereavement programs and has taken the place of the former Lunch and Learn group. The “lunch” might be gone, but the support, delicious desserts and learning experiences continue. The Growing Through Grief program begins with a facilitated grief support group for adults which is then followed by a grief-related presentation or workshop.

It’s difficult to believe, but the holiday seasons are fast approaching. The coming months, filled with special events and festivities, can be especially difficult for people who have suffered the death of a loved one recently or in the past. In the presentation portion of the next Growing Through Grief group, which is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 15, Rev. Ray Beless will be providing some very helpful tips on how to cope with grief throughout the holiday season and how to navigate your way through all the events and activities.

Knowing you aren’t alone at this time of year and that there are others who share the pain of loss can be comforting; being able to talk about your pain can be very healing. Many people find comfort by sharing their feelings of pain, emotions and thoughts in a group setting, or just listening and this facilitated grief support group is a place you may find solace.

Growing Through Grief meets on the third Tuesday of each month, September through May, from 1-3 p.m. in Dover-Foxcroft. The grief support group, presentation and delicious dessert are free of charge. Participants must pre-register by calling Pine Tree Hospice at 564-4346.
