Dexter and Foxcroft run in Old Town

OLD TOWN — The Dexter Regional High School and Foxcroft Academy cross country teams were among more than a dozen programs competing in the 70th Old Town Sectional Invitational on Sept. 28.

The Dexter boys compiled a score of 296 points to finish 12th of 13 squads. Tiger Payson Rienhart led his team with a 24th-place finish among 85 entrants. Rienhart covered the 3.1 miles in a time of 19 minutes, 15.59 seconds.

The rest of the Dexter field was junior Michael Gadwah, 46th at 20:34.51; sophomore Nick Galligan, 65th at 22:17.14; sophomore Miles Gadwah, 79th at 25:10.43; and senior Gus Irwin, 82nd at 26:31.89.

The Foxcroft boys finished 13th with a score of 356 points. Pony junior Joseph Keenan crossed the finish line in 21:24 to place 54th.

The other Foxcroft runners were junior Corey Merrill, 66th at 22:17.75; junior Caleb Fockens, 75th at 23:39.23; sophomore Aiden Currie, 80th at 25:39; senior Kiet Vo, 81st at 26:31; and freshman Joseph Nelson, 83rd at 28:09.08.

Four Ponies ran in the girls’ race on Saturday. Junior Kaylee Durgin led Foxcroft by finishing 52nd among 75 entrants in a time of 27:51.57.

Also running were senior Yeung Tsz Wa, 54th at 28:08.70; sophomore Makayla Landry, 58th at 28:45.79; and senior Liang Leyao, 59th at 28:54.35.
