Hippy Chick Natural Solutions boutique grand opening Sept. 21

SANGERVILLE — There’s a small business located in Sangerville that has created quite a buzz throughout the region since its doors opened in 2016. In fact the owner Janet McAllister is now filling wholesale-orders from across the United States for customers who rely on her natural products and the service she provides.

On Saturday, Sept. 21 Hippy Chick Natural Solutions will celebrate the grand opening of McAllister,’s newest endeavor “The Pineapple Boutique,” a bakery-style shop carrying items such as hemp-infused teas and cocoa, cookies, scones, muffins and breads as well as a number of frozen infused meals like perogies, stews and casseroles and apple-crisp. The boutique will also carry non-food items such as salves, soaps, bath bombs, infused elderberry syrup and more.

McAllister

McAllister, was raised in Abbot and graduated from Piscataquis Community High School in 1992. Although she lived and worked outside of Maine for a handful of years, she returned home to the community she loves in 1998 to raise her family. Then, in July of 2010, McAllister, lost her beloved soulmate to Crohn’s disease while pregnant with their twin daughters. Through the love, compassion and support of her community, McAllister, made it through and overcame many obstacles in the process.

One would think such a tremendous loss would make her bitter; but the very opposite is true. Piscataquis Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Denise Buzzelli explains, “One of the first things that became obvious to me when I met Janet was her heart for people, especially hurting people,” she said, “and it’s evident in the way she gives back to her local community — the more her business grows, the more she gives back.”

Hippy Chick Natural Solutions is an avid supporter and sponsor of the JD Foundation, United Bikers of Maine Ride for Cancer and the Parkman Grange Santa Program. Hippy Chick funded the first annual Sangerville Community Easter Egg Hunt in 2019, and just recently funded and coordinated a back-pack drive which provided 80 packs to students in four school districts.

“Every chance she gets,” Buzzelli said, “Janet strives to give back to the same community that supported her during the darkest time in her life.”

In addition to her time and benevolence, according to her faithful customer base, McAllister’s products have dramatically improved the lives of those who use them. Hippy Chick’s product line is constantly growing, and includes CBD pain and anxiety products, bath bombs and muscle rubs, deodorants and toothpastes, as well as sweet treats from granola bars and cookies to lollipops and fudge, tinctures, and pet products.

Customer reviews are flooded with recommendations and testimonials, and in the past several years, Hippy Chick Natural Solutions has been recognized for their body-care line and CBD-infused edibles, winning four awards; one of which landed the company a spot at the World Food Championship in Dallas this October.

Undoubtedly, as the Hippy Chick Natural Solutions continues to expand its product line and opens its new retail boutique, which will also feature products from a number of other New England-based companies like The Healing Rose, Kushley, Old Man Goodies and Muffins Apothecary, the popularity of this unique business will continue to grow.

On Sept. 21 a grand opening celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hippy Chick Natural Solutions, 35 Pleasant Street. The Piscataquis Chamber of Commerce will hold an official ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m. This event is open to both chamber members and community members, and will include DJ-provided music (all day), product samples, giveaways and prizes. McAllister, will be there will her team, and a medical provider will also be present.
