D-F Historical Society to host Maine trivia program

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Dover-Foxcroft Historical Society invites all to the Wednesday, Sept. 4 meeting to be held at 7 p.m. at The Commons at Central Hall. Maine author Tim Caverly will present his “Jeopardy”-style PowerPoint program “So You Think You Know Maine.”

Caverly has spent his life in Maine’s outdoors, grew up shadowing his father who was a fire warden and brother Buzz who was a ranger and director in Baxter State Park for 46 years — it was natural for him to seek a career in the Maine outdoors. Caverly earned his Bachelor of Science and teaching certificate at the University of Maine-Machias. While in college he began working as a ranger at Sebago Lake State Park and continued his employment with the Department of Conservation as manager of Aroostook and Cobscook Bay State Park as well as regional supervisor of the Allagash Region.

Now retired after 32 years, Caverly and his wife Susan travel throughout the region with their “New England Reads” literacy outreach sharing his adventures and stories with students and adults. He has published 10 books from pre-K through adult. Caverly’s latest adult read “The Ranger’s Wife” along with his other books will be available for purchase and signing. His books and list of his appearances may be found at www.allagashtails.com.

This event is open to all. For more information, please contact Dover-Foxcroft Historical Society President Mary Annis at 564-0820 or mannis@myfairpoint.net.
