Spider-man visits local diaper drive

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Penquis Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Council collaborated with local businesses and The Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department on Saturday, July 13, to host a one-of-a-kind diaper drive featuring the movie “Spider-man: Far From Home.”

When families arrived with their diaper donations, they were greeted by Spider-Man himself. Officer Tysen Ober from the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department braved the suit to play the lead character. Families also enjoyed games and photo opportunities in the lobby before the movie started.

“Spider-man” was on hand Saturday, July 13, to thank folks who donated diapers for the Penquis Child Abuse and Neglect Council’s diaper drive. Families enjoyed a visit with the character before enjoying the film “Spider-man: Far From Home.” With some of the donations are Spider-man (also known as Tysen Ober of the Piscataqius County Sheriff’s Office); Christine McMillen, council program manager; and Maureen Cipullo, council community educator.

Thanks to partners and the community support, the council collected more than 1,500 diapers. Diapers collected at this event and throughout the month of July will benefit families in Piscataquis County.
Those who couldn’t make it to the diaper drive and would like to donate can drop off donations at the Dover-Foxcroft Penquis office at 50 North St.
