Maine Community Foundation Piscataquis County Committee awards six grants

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Piscataquis County Committee of the Maine Community Foundation has awarded $30,949 in grants to six nonprofits. Grant recipients include the Center Theatre, to expand the Summer Drama Camp program to Monson;

Harry E Davis Partnership for Children’s Oral Health, to develop a Piscataquis County oral health needs assessment and host community conversations to generate solutions to improve children’s oral health;

Maine Highlands Senior Center, to support strategic planning and a regional gathering to improve communication among local organizations;

Appalachian Mountain Club, to expand the Maine Woods Community Youth and Environment Program by developing and piloting climate change curriculum for students in Piscataquis County:

Pine Tree Hospice, to provide capacity-building support during a critical staff transition period; and

RSU 68, to provide outdoor learning opportunities for SeDoMoCha School students.

The Piscataquis County Fund is a permanent endowment that supports projects and nonprofits that strengthen communities in the county. Applications go through the foundation’s Community Building Grant Program and are reviewed by a committee of local leaders. The next proposal deadline is Feb. 15, 2020.
