Buie School of Music annual spring concert June 8

DOVER-FOXCROFT – Musical educator Lauralynn Buie said that her program has “once again outgrown our performance hall and we are so fortunate to move our spring concert to Central Hall.”

The Buie School of Music annual spring concert begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 8 at The Commons at Central Hall. Musicians ages 5 to 16 will play various styles of music including classical, jazz, 1950s and 1960s tunes, boogie, Celtic, Santana, blue grass, classical show tunes and more. Students will be performing via voice, piano, ukulele, classical guitar, standard guitar, electric guitar and bass. Many students accompany themselves while they sing. The show includes solos, duets, trios, quartets and groups.

The concert is followed by a reception and cake walk. “The cake walk is like a game of musical chairs, only you win the cake by a number being drawn,” said Buie. “We have had the cake walk for over 20 years, where the proceeds go to a nonprofit – our way of giving back in a small way to our community. It’s a lot of laughter and fun, along with building community.” This year’s proceeds will benefit The Commons at Central Hall.

“Please come and enjoy the fun with our musical community,” Buie said.
