Seussified fun at the Center Theatre
The Center Theatre was full of Seussified Fun Friday, May 3 as The Slightly Off-Center Player Kids took the stage to perform “Seussical Jr.” for the first time. Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and more favorite Dr. Seuss characters sprung to life onstage with exciting songs and colorful costumes.
The show transports audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, while telling the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him.

SEUSSICAL JR. — The cast of “Seussical Jr.” at the Center Theatre were joined by Director Bobby Kenniston and Vocal Director Nathan Roach before the opening night on Friday, May 3. The show will be performed three more times, Friday, May 10 at 7 p.m., Saturday, May 11 at 2 p.m. and Sunday, May 12 at 2 p.m.
“The show is so much fun,” said Patrick Myers the Center Theatre’s executive director. “We have so many talented kids in our community, this is a great chance to experience a wonderful show that is also very skillfully performed. You’ll be impressed by all the talent right here in our backyard!”
The show’s director is Bobby Keniston with vocal direction by Nathan Roach. Myers also said several local businesses have been instrumental to the process, “We couldn’t have done the show without the help of Dave’s World US Cellular and Foxcroft Veterinary Clinic. We’re grateful for their sponsorship and continued support.”
