SEUSSICAL JR. — Members of the cast of “Seussical Jr.” rehearse at Central Hall. The show opens on Friday, May 3 and runs at the Center Theatre in Dover-Foxcroft through May 12.

The Cat in the Hat narrates the story which takes audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus and beyond as Horton the Elephant discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community emerge triumphant.

“The show is so much fun,” said Patrick Myers the Center Theatre’s executive director. “The kids are having a great time and I think that will show during the performances.”

The show is being directed by Bobby Keniston with vocal direction by Nathan Roach. Myers also said several local businesses have been instrumental to the process, “We couldn’t have done the show without the help of Dave’s World US Cellular and Foxcroft Veterinary Clinic. We’re grateful for their sponsorship and continued support.”
