‘No Impact Man’ screening at May 3 First Friday event

DEXTER — Dexter Dover Area Towns in Transition’s (DDATT) May 3 version of First Friday will be a free public screening of “No Impact Man” — a 2009 movie — at 6 p.m. in the Abbott Memorial Library with discussion afterwards.

This documentary tells the story of author Colin Beavan, who went completely “green,” giving up virtually all of the comforts of modern living — electricity, gas-powered transportation, shipped food and public waste disposal — in a drastic effort to curb his environmental impact. The cameras capture the toll this well-intentioned, year-long project takes on Beavan’s wife and baby daughter, as well as the ways it brings this family closer together.

Lots has happened regarding awareness of human involvement with earth’s environment in the intervening 10 years, so come, watch and share your comments and observations about Beavan’s efforts and what’s going on today.

DDATT is a group of area residents concerned with sharing information about how to live better together using less energy and more contentment. For more information, please call 277-4221.
