‘Circuses, Cowboys, and Classics’ at May 5 HJ Crosby Community Band concert

DEXTER — Hot after its performance at the Shrine Circus in Bangor on April 27, the Harold J. Crosby Community Band will present a free public concert on Sunday, May 5 at 1:30 p.m. in the Dexter Town Hall. They will be performing “Circus Classics, Cowboy Classics and Classics” from the era of Rock and Roll.

The program will include “Entry of the Gladiators,” “Barnum and Bailey Favorites” and Karl King’s “Circus Days,” “Rawhide,” “The Magnificent Seven” and “Ring of Fire; Wipeout and Rock Around the Clock” and ending with an audience participation of the band’s performance of the “1812 Overture.” This will be the band’s final concert as members prepare for the summer season of concerts and festivals, beginning on June 11 at Wayside Park in Dexter. Other events will be in Corinna, Newport, Guilford, Greenville, Garland, Sangerville and Pittsfield.

This cabaret style concert invites you to sit back, relax, and enjoy the music … and the band’s special gourmet snack selections. As always, admission is free; donations, though, are accepted to help defray the costs and to keep the music playing here in our little corner of Maine.
