D-F police officer and young assistant deliver Krispy Kreme donuts for FA band

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Foxcroft Academy Marching Band’s most recent fundraiser for a return trip to Disney World involved selling Krispy Kreme donuts to the community. On March 22 Foxcroft Academy/SeDoMoCha School Resource Officer Pete Dennis volunteered his time to help deliver the donuts around town, joking that what is funner than a cop delivering donuts.

Dennis, known as “Officer Pete” to the students, did not have to drop off the treats all by himself as he had SeDoMoCha student Charlie Johnston with him. Johnston also wore a police officer’s uniform to travel around town.

KRISPY KREME DELIVERY — Foxcroft Academy/SeDoMoCha School Resource Officer Pete Dennis of the Dover-Foxcroft Police Department volunteered to deliver Krisy Kreme donuts, purchased to benefit a Foxcroft Academy Marching Band trip to Disney World, around town on March 22. “Officer Pete” had a young assistant for his deliveries in SeDoMoCha student Charlie Johnston.

Charlie, who has Down Syndrome, wanted to help because his brother Benjamin is in the Foxcroft Academy band. The elder brother has helped Charlie raise several thousand for the Maine Down Syndrome Network and Camp CaPella so Charlie is returning the favor and helping his brother with his fundraisers.

Foxcroft Academy Director of Music Josh Guthrie said, “The Foxcroft Academy Marching Band has been raising money diligently throughout the year in hopes of performing at Disney World in Florida once again. Though Disney chooses their bands by audition, it is still an expensive trip to bus 55 people and their instruments to Orlando.

“The latest and perhaps greatest fundraiser is donuts by the dozen from Krispy Kreme in Auburn. Nothing is quite as delicious as a fresh baked Krispy Kreme glazed donut. After selling 275 dozen this March, the band is now within reach of their $45,000 goal with only $11,488 left to go.
