Registration open for Birding by Ear workshop

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Spring is just around the corner, believe it or not, so it is time to get ready to welcome Maine’s birds back to the area. If you love birds and want to learn more about how to identify them by their songs and calls, this workshop is for you. The Piscataquis County Soil & Water Conservation District (PCSWCD) is hosting a new, free workshop this year called Birding by Ear and we are fortunate enough to have Bob Duchesne, Maine Birding Trails creator and Maine bird guide, lead the presentation.

Duchesne will give tips about how to identify birds by their calls and songs. He will also discuss what habitat different birds use, as some are canopy dwellers, some ground nesters and others live in the intermediate canopy. This workshop will be held indoors at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church on Saturday, April 6 from 8-10 a.m. For more information and to register, please call 564-2321 ext. 3 or email info@pisctaquisswcd.org.
