Stutzman’s Farm Cafe to reopen April 5

SANGERVILLE — Like a true rite of spring, the opening of Stutzman’s Farm Café & Brick Oven Bakery on Friday, April 5 ushers in the beginning of the farming season. This third generation family farm located at 891 Douty Hill Road, enters its sixth season as a field to fork restaurant and its 40th anniversary since operators Sid and Rainie Stutzman took over the family farm.

The café is an authentic timber frame building that overlooks Stutzman’s 27 acres of crops grown for the farm stand. Starting with hand picked peas and new potatoes around the Fourth of July the farm stand furnishes a variety of fresh veggies throughout the summer including a U-pick strawberry field as well. The restaurant utilizes these veggies as fresh salads, soups and pizza toppings for its wood-fired brick oven pizza. Greenhouse-grown lettuces help extend the season and provide spinach for the homemade pesto pizza toppings.

All breads, fruit pies, soups and bakery goodies are made from scratch, many are from ingredients grown on the farm. Spring Café hours for the pizza buffet will be Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday brunch with live music takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. After Memorial Day when planting is finished the Café adds Wednesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., to the pizza buffet hours.

Stutzman’s Farm is a proud participant in the Maine Senior Farm Share Program. For more information and Farmshare sign-up times please call 564-8596.
