PCHS’ Wilson and Nadeau wrestle at all-state tourney

SOUTH PARIS — Two wrestlers from Piscataquis Community High School qualified for the all-state tournament on Feb. 23 at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School after their performances at the Class B championship the Saturday before. On Feb. 23 senior Zachary Wilson and sophomore Jacob Nadeau represented the Pirates at all-states.

The top four wrestlers in each weight class from the Class A and B state competitions qualify to compete at all-states, which is also used as the New England championship qualifier. Nadeau wrestled in the 145-pound weight class and gave a strong showing as a sophomore. Wilson placed second in the 170-pound weight class which qualifies him to compete in the New England championships to be held in Providence, Rhode Island on Friday and Saturday, March 1-2.

ON TO RHODE ISLAND — PCHS senior Zachary Wilson, pictured wrestling in the semifinal round, came in second at 170 pounds during the all-state tourney/New England qualifier on Feb. 23 in South Paris. By virtue of his top three finish, Wilson earned a berth in the New England championship March 1-2 in Providence, Rhode Island.
