PCMS girls capture Penquis League small school championship

GUILFORD — The girls basketball team from Piscataquis Community Middle School ended the 2018-19 season as the Penquis League small school champions. The Pirates finished the season with an overall record of 11-4, with only one of the loses coming against a fellow small school program (the other three came vs. large school division squads).

In the quarterfinals PCMS defeated Medway Middle School and then a victory over Stearns Junior High School of Millinocket in semifinal play advanced the Pirates to the league championship.

LEAGUE CHAMPS — The Piscataquis Community Middle School girls basketball team is the Penquis League Small School champions. On Feb. 9 the Pirates defeated Hichborn Middle School of Howland in the championship by a score of 25-23.

On Feb. 9 PCMS faced Hichborn Middle School of Howland in the Penquis League Small Championship finale in Millinocket, and the Pirates won by a score of 25-23.

Coach Jessica Bell, who led the Pirates with Kamron Kimball, said the girls all played great this year and she’s so proud to be their coach.

Players are eighth-graders Samantha Goodwin, Kendall Kimball, Saia Miles, Abbey Ricker, Brylee Ricker, Lauren Robinson, Molly Sipple, and Katelynn White; seventh-graders Emily Easler, Kaileigh Elderkin; and sixth-grader Khloe Kimball.
