Robshaw wins conference 55-dash and triple jump titles

ORONO — Penquis Valley High School senior Cymeria Robshaw won the 55-meter dash and triple jump and she came in second in the long jump at the Penobscot Valley Conference/Eastern Maine Indoor Track League small school championship on Saturday at the University of Maine.

In the 55-meter finals Robshaw crossed the finish line first in a time of 7.31 seconds, more than half a second ahead of Bucksport High School’s Johanna Stiles’ time of 7.90 seconds. Robshaw is undefeated in the 55-dash across eight meets this season and on Feb. 9 she tied her own high school record for the New Balance Field House. On Jan. 18 Robshaw also ran a time of 7.31 seconds.

Robshaw landed a distance of 35 feet, 7.25 inches to win the triple jump by more than four feet. Runner-up Maggie Coutts of Orono High school finished second among small school competitors at 31-02.75.

Robshaw came in second in the long jump with a leap of 18-02.50. She trailed only the new league-record distance of 19-04 for Camille Kohtala of Orono.

All 28 points for Penquis came from Robshaw as the Patriots were fifth of nine teams in the girls’ small school standings.

Robshaw has qualified in each of the three events for the Class B championship on Saturday, Feb. 16 at Bates College in Lewiston.

Foxcroft Academy junior Hunter Clarke ran in two events over the weekend. Clarke came in eighth in the boys’ small school 200 meters with a time of 25.40 seconds.

In the 55-meter prelims he finished 10th in 7.36 seconds.
