Dexter wrestler Wing reaches 100-win milestone

SKOWHEGAN — Dexter Regional High School junior Justin Wing became the third Tiger wrestler to earn his 100th win this season as Wing accomplished the feat during a Jan. 26 competition at Skowhegan Area High School. Wing’s win followed the previous 2018-19 100-win milestones of seniors Caleb Weeks and Isaiah Hesseltine.

100TH-CAREER WIN — Dexter Regional High School junior wrestler Justin Wing, pictured with his sister Morgan, earned his 100th career victory on Jan. 26 in Skowhegan. Win No. 100 came via forfeit but Wing’s teammates and coaches chose to celebrate his 101st victory as he won this match by major decision.

Wing started Saturday needing four wins to get to his 100th. His bracket included Oxford Hills, Medomak Valley, Mattanawcook Academy, and Maine Central Institute. Wing’s actual 100th victory was by forfeit against Mattanawcook, but head coach Andrew Levensalor and the Tiger wrestlers chose to celebrate Wing’s 101st win via major decision against Maine Central Institute’s Cole Steve.

Wing was a state champion last year and Levensalor states that he “expects to see big things from him (Wing) and they are not done yet.”

Dexter wrestling fans are excited to watch this team as the Tigers prepare for Penobscot Valley Conference and state competitions.
