Valentine’s Ball Returns to Central Hall on Feb. 9

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Center Theatre recently announced that after a hiatus of eight years, there will be a formal Valentine’s Ball in the newly renovated Commons Event Center at Central Hall. The event will take place from 8-11 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9. Very danceable music will be provided by Deb Maynard’s Little Big Band. Light hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and a chocolate fountain will be on hand to keep up guests energy levels as well as a cash bar by Pat’s Pizza for those who need additional lubrication to join the dance floor.

The event will benefit the Center Theatre for the Performing Arts and its mission of making arts, culture, education, and entertainment accessible to the area’s rural communities. Patrick Myers, the Center Theatre’s executive director, said he has heard many people talk about the fun Valentine’s Balls from 10 years ago, and that the Theatre wants to bring back the tradition.

DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY — A group of ladies kick up their heels at the last Valentine’s Ball which was held at Central Hall in Dover-Foxcroft in 2011. The Center Theatre is hosting a Valentine’s Ball at the newly renovated space on Feb. 9.

“Many people on our board and staff were at the last Valentine’s Ball in 2011,” he said. “I think it was the last event held at Central Hall before it was closed for renovations. Now that the Hall is back again and such a great resource for our community, the Center Theatre wanted to host a Valentine Ball to close that circle and continue the fun.”

Myers said that it is a formal, 21-plus event. Tickets are $30 per person, $50 per couple, with a table of eight costing $200. Seating is limited so Myers suggests attendees get their tickets early. Tickets are available at the Theatre’s website at CenterTheatre.org, at the Center Theatre box office, or at Chloe’s Collection at 1 North Street in Dover-Foxcroft. Chloe’s Collections is also available for formal wear rentals, flowers, and all Ball needs and will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Center Theatre.

The Center Theatre is a 501(c)3 non-profit with a mission to make arts, culture, education, and entertainment accessible to our rural communities.
