‘All The President’s Men’ free showing Feb. 13 at Center Theatre
DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Center Theatre recently announced that it will be offering a free showing of the classic movie “All the President’s Men” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13. The screening will be preceded by food and a discussion at 5:30 p.m. The program is part of a joint project between the Center Theatre, Foxcroft Academy, and the Thompson Free Library supported by a grant from the Maine Humanities Council’s Democracy, Journalism, and the Informed Citizen grant program.
As part of the grant project, the book “All the President’s Men” will be part of two history and journalism classes at Foxcroft Academy as well as the subject of an adult reading group at Thompson Free Library. Both the classes and the adult reading group will be visited by Callie Ferguson, a journalist with the Bangor Daily News, who will help facilitate discussions about the book and talk about her own experiences as a Maine-based journalist. The book and movie tell the story of Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, from the initial report on the Watergate break-in through the resignations of H. R. Haldeman and John Ehrlichman.

ALL THE PRESIDENT’S MEN — Over 75 copies of “All The President’s Men” will be distributed to high school students and adults in the Dover-Foxcroft area as part of a joint project between the Center Theatre, Foxcroft Academy, and The Thompson Free Library. The project will culminate with a free showing of the movie at the Center Theatre at 7 p.m. on Feb. 13.
On Feb. 13 at 5:30 p.m. the students from Foxcroft Academy and the adult reading group will come together at the Center Theatre to share some food and discuss “All the President’s Men” from their different vantage points.
Patrick Myers, the Center Theatre’s executive director, thinks the program will be a great opportunity to share viewpoints and opinions. “It’s always exciting to bring together people of different ages and backgrounds,” Myers said, “It gives us all an opportunity to share our opinions and hopefully learn something. We’re grateful for the support from the Maine Humanities Council who made this possible.”
