Rep. Stearns to serve on Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee

Rep. Paul A. Stearns, R-Guilford has been appointed to the 129th Maine Legislature’s Joint Standing Committee on Inland Fisheries and Wildlife as the lead Republican. The committee is among the most sought after legislative assignments, because its jurisdiction encompasses several Maine pastimes, traditions, and important parts of the Maine economy.

“Maine’s natural resource economy is important to our way of life,” Stearns said. “It provides outdoor recreation, jobs, and a connection for residents and visitors to the lands and waters of Maine. I will work for sensible, effective laws that conserve, enhance and expand recreational opportunities for all Maine citizens and the small business enterprises that serve them.”

Stearns, who is retired, was recently re-elected to a third term representing District 119 — Abbot, Beaver Cove, Bowerbank, Greenville, Guilford, Monson, Parkman, Sangerville, Sebec, Shirley, Willimantic, plus the unorganized territories of Blanchard Township, Northeast Piscataquis (including Barnard and Eliotsville townships) and Northwest Piscataquis. He is being reappointed to the committee and is the ranking Republican member.
