Mackey Andrews for Senate District 4

To the Editor;
I have had the privilege of working with Sue Mackey Andrews as a member of Helping Hands with Heart. I have seen first hand her commitment to families and children. She has worked tirelessly to bring awareness and education on topics that directly impact our area including poverty and childhood trauma.

Until recently I worked as a public health nurse serving families in Piscataquis, Penobscot, and Somerset counties. Sue understands and is in agreement with the research that shows families, children and infants benefit from nurse visits to their homes, especially during the all important prenatal and postpartum time frames. She worked very hard with politicians from both parties to introduce legislation to save the Public Health Nurse program which has been decimated over the past eight years.

I have also worked in schools in Milo and Dover-Foxcroft. Sue understands the importance of early childhood intervention programs and public education for all local children pre-K through grade 12. Sue is very involved in Pine Tree Hospice where I first met her when I was a volunteer.

For these reasons and many more I will be voting for Sue Mackey Andrews for Senate District 4 and I hope you will too. It is time for a change.
