Foxcroft Youth Track athletes compete at regional qualifier

BREWER — Members of the Foxcroft Youth Track program took part in the Group D Maine USATF 15 & Under Regional Qualifier on Aug. 2 at the Brewer Community Track. Athletes placing in the top four earn berths for the state meet on Saturday, Aug. 11 at Cony High School in Augusta — some of the Foxcroft team members already know they will be unable to take part on Aug. 11.

Kaydance Sheridan had the meet’s second-best throw in the age 9-10 javelin. Sheridan finished with a top throw of 45 feet, 10 inches. She also was sixth in the 9-10 shot put at 12-11.50, and tied for 12th in the 9-10 high jump at a height of 2-09.

Olivia Hill placed third in the 13-14 200 at 31.94 seconds. She came in fourth in the 13-14 discus with a throw of 61-11, finished seventh in the 13-14 long jump at 11-06.75 and was eighth in the 13-14 high jump at 2-09.

Ashlyn Mageau had an eighth-place performance in the 9-10 100 with a time of 17.82 seconds. Mageau also came in 11th in the 9-10 javelin at 28-10 and she was 15th in the 9-10 long jump at a distance of 6-03.50.

In the boys’ meet, Jackson Smith tied for second in the 13-14 high jump as he cleared the bar at a height of 4-09. Smith also came in third in the 13-14 with a time of 13.95 seconds.

Aidan Bryant finished third in the 11-12 400 in 1:27.42. Bryant added a fifth-place performance in the 11-12 80-meter hurdles at 20.89 seconds.

Jack Gallagher came in fourth in the 8 and under shot put with a throw of 12-04.25. Gallagher was also fifth in the 8 and under javelin at 31-00 and ninth in the 8 and under long jump at 6-07.

Landon Smith completed the Foxcroft Youth Track contingent. He placed seventh in the 11-12 100 at 15.79 seconds, and came in 11th in the 11-12 long jump at a distance of 9-00.
