Piscataquis River Festival returns to Guilford

TALES OF THE WATER — A mid-morning parade from outer Elm Street to the downtown athletic field helped celebrate Guilford’s annual Piscataquis River Festival on Saturday, July 28. This year’s theme was “Up the Creek” and the float for the Guilford Memorial Library featured some famous titles involving watercraft.

STRETCHER RACE CHALLENGE — A new event at the 14th annual Piscataquis River Festival on July 28 was the stretcher race challenge, as teams used stretchers from Redington-Fairview Hospital of Skowhegan to race from the parade start to finish with entry fee proceeds benefiting gas cards for area residents’ cancer treatments. The winning team attired in field hockey uniforms stopped for a photo on Elm Street prior to the competition.
