TRYING THEIR BEST TO STAY AFLOAT — Over a half dozen groups of paddlers tried to traverse the Lake Hebron cove from the boat launch to the Lakeshore House dock during the Anything Floats Race on the afternoon of Saturday, July 21 during the annual Monson Summer Festival. The “Blue Lightning” float ended up reaching the finish line first to claim top honors with the “Pirate Ship” coming in second and “Magic Carpet Ride” and the “Sunken Canoe” tying for third place. “False Trail” earned a ribbon for the most creative float and the Lakeshore House entrant earned most comical honors.

BLUE LIGHTNING — The “Blue Lightning” float earned top honors in the Anything Floats Race on July 21 during the annual Monson Summer Festival. Entrants construct their craft out of materials not normally intended for boats and they then need to use non-mechanical means to travel from the boat launch to the Lakeshore House dock, ideally not sinking and taking on too much water.
