PRYMCA announces new director of operations and development

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Board of Directors and CEO Diane Dickerson are proud to announce some management additions and changes at the Piscataquis Regional YMCA.

Janna Loureiro Wasel has been chosen to become the director of operations and development. She comes with extensive management and development experience with the American Cancer Society. She is a graduate of Providence College in Rhode Island and spent much of her career in Massachusetts. Wasel and her husband came to Maine about three years ago and have made the Dover-Foxcroft region their home with their two children.

Dickerson said, “Janna is not just experienced, but is very articulate, wonderful, smart, a quick learner, and passionate about our Y. She and her family have been members, and Janna has been a wonderful volunteer for the Y for many years. We are truly so lucky to have found this perfect of a person right in our backyard. She fills a critical role that has been truly needed at the PRY.”

Dickerson also announced that Wendy Voter, the current welcome center manager, is becoming manager of the early childhood education program, after-school program and Camp Katahdin. Voter has a bachelor’s in elementary education with an emphasis on pre-K through grade 3. She has attended and completed Infant/Toddler Institute through the University of Maine. Voter has owned and operated her own licensed daycare and has been a preschool teacher.

Voter said, “After being at this Y since 2015, it is nice to be going back to my roots and passion of working with our little ones and school age kids. The impact this Y can have on the lives of our children is phenomenal, and I am proud to be a part of it.

“We have big plans for our Camp Katahdin this summer, and for the upcoming school year in the fall.”

Kelly Hutchinson, the previous manager, will remain on as a part-time teacher. Dickerson said, “Kelly is so loved and has such an impact on our kids and program. She has decided to work part time in order to spend more time with her family, especially her grandkids. We are lucky she is staying on as a part- time teacher.”

Finally, Nanette Redmond will be promoted to the position of welcome center manager. Redmond holds a degree in office administration from Husson University and also brings 15-plus years of law office experience serving local attorneys to the position.

“Nan has been a welcome center associate since May and has the qualifications, experience, personality, and professionalism to be a superior manager of this important department,” Dickerson said. “Members adore her, and she provides the best in customer service for our Y.”
