Shaw Public Library offers ‘Let’s Talk About It’ book group

GREENVILLE — The Shaw Public Library has been selected by the Maine Humanities Council to offer “Let’s Talk About It,” a free reading and discussion group with copies of the books available through the library. This program is provided by the Maine Humanities Council’s Maine Center for the Book in cooperation with the Maine State Library.

The series Violence and Belonging begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 29 at the Shaw Public Library and continues for five sessions until Aug. 31.

Books to be read and discussed in this series include “Marrow of Tradition” by Charles Chestnut; “Between the World and Me” by Ta-Nehisi Coates; “The Round House” by Louise Erdich; “A Map of Home” by Rand Jarrar; and “Once in a Promised Land” by Laila Halaby. David Richards will facilitate the discussions.

It has been a great experience to be part of these programs to have the opportunity to get together with the community to discuss what was read. The experience is further enriched with a skilled facilitator.
