Mayo Regional Hospital announces provider changes at Guilford Medical Associates

GUILFORD — Mayo’s Rural Health Center in Guilford, also known as Guilford Medical Associates (GMA), wants patients to be aware of recent changes in the provider lineup. Crystal MacClintock, PA-C has taken a job at Mayo Orthopedics, Susan Luthin, MD relocated to Down East Maine so that she could be closer to family, and Jessica Richmond, MD will become a full-time hospital provider at Mayo in July.

Hospital officials understand that this type of change can be worrisome for patients. Rest assured, Mayo has made a considerable investment in hiring locums to provide coverage through the summer. Lola Case, FNP has already started and Amy Weiss, FNP will start June 18. The hospital is also accommodating patients who wish to transfer to other providers within the Mayo family including Dexter, Corinth, Milo and Dover Foxcroft.

Additionally, Mayo is actively recruiting for permanent MD and NP providers. This may take some time since finding providers for rural areas is increasingly challenging for Maine and other rural states. These challenges highlight why there is a need to pursue innovative ideas and work with new partners to control costs and provide quality care.

The Mayo Board of Trustees is committed to providing local access to high-quality care and is actively engaged in this situation.
