FA indoor track results

ORONO — The Foxcroft Academy indoor track and field team was in action on Jan. 15 in a Penobscot Valley Conference/Eastern Maine Indoor Track League meet — rescheduled from two days prior due to the weather — at the University of Maine. Both Pony teams would finish sixth among six schools taking part.

The Foxcroft boys earned nine points at the meet. Freshman Lucas Ronco came in third in the 55 hurdles with a time of 11.26 seconds.

Sophomore Hunter Clarke earned the other three Pony points. Clarke placed fifth in the 55 dash in a time of 7.61 seconds and he also was sixth in the 400 at 1:01.34.

The Foxcroft girls score five points on Jan. 15 as sophomore Sadie Avellar recorded a pair of fifth-place finishes. She was fifth in the 800 in a time of 3:27.70 and Avellar came in fifth in the long jump at a distance of 10 feet, 4.25 inches.

Sophomore Cheyanne Skomars placed sixth in the long jump with a leap of 9-10.50 for the other Pony point on Jan. 15.

Foxcroft returned to action with a meet on Jan. 20. Neither squad scored points as the Pony boys were 10th of 10 and the girls from Foxcroft tied the Bangor Christian School for eighth place among a field of nine teams.

Ronco had his team’s top finish over the weekend by placing seventh in the 55 hurdles at 11.20 seconds.
Clarke came in ninth in the 400 at 1:01.22.

In the girls’ meet Avellar was 14th in the long jump at a distance of 11-03.75. Freshman Diana Demers came in 18th in the event at 10-03.25 and right behind was Skomars in 20th place at 9-09.

In the preliminary rounds of the 55 Skomars finished 16th in a time of 9.54 seconds and Avellar was 17th at 9.61 seconds.

Avellar also finished 20th in the 400 at 1:20.45.
