Foxcroft indoor track opens the season

ORONO — The Foxcroft Academy indoor track and field team kicked off the 2017-18 season on Dec. 16 with an opening Penobscot Valley Conference/Eastern Maine Indoor Track League meet at the University of Maine. The Ponies did not score any points at the eight-school competition but three team members placed in the top 20.

Freshman Lucas Ronco came in seventh in the 55-meter hurdle preliminaries with a time of 11.32 seconds. Ronco also placed 20th in the long jump at a distance of 14 feet, 2.5 inches.

Sophomore Hunter Clarke was 11th in the 55 prelims at 7.68 seconds. He also came in 14th in the 200 with a time of 26.90 seconds.

In the girls’ meet, Foxcroft sophomore Sadie Avellar placed 10 in the 800, as she ran the event in 3:08.84.
