Foxcroft Key Club Reindeer Run 5K results

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Foxcroft Academy Key Club, hosted its sixth annual Reindeer Run 5K during the early afternoon of Sunday, Dec. 3. Proceeds from the event benefit community Christmas projects. The Foxcroft Academy Key Club sponsors the charity event​ ​to​ ​raise​ ​money​ ​to​ ​help​ ​the​ ​children​ ​in​ ​area​ ​communities​ ​have​ ​a​ ​Merry​ ​Christmas.

Race organizers thank the many businesses donating and/or sponsoring the Reindeer Run. The 5K is held in conjunction with the weekend’s Hometown Holidays celebration across the region.

Three runners, three walkers, one dog and four members of the Foxcroft Academy Key Club all covered 3.1 miles over portions of West Main, Lincoln, Union, Summer, North and Winter streets to go to and from Foxcroft Academy in temperatures slightly above the freezing mark.

Andrew Knightly, 45 of Bangor, was the first Reindeer Run participant to cross the finish line. Knightly ran a time of 17 minutes, 52 minutes.

Foxcroft Academy indoor track and field head coach Cecilia Dube, the 24-year-old teaches grade 2 across town at SeDoMoCha Elementary and resides in Winterport, came in second. Dube — the women’s winner — finished in a time of 20:56.

Rounding out the 2017 Reindeer Run field was Sue Killam, 62 of Blanchard. Killam, who teaches grade 7 at the Ridge View Community School in Dexter, covered the 5K in 34:41.

After the race, participants enjoyed cookies and hot chocolate in addition to more commonplace post-running items such as fruit and water. The top male and female runners received a Christmas stocking filled with goodies and other prizes were raffled off for all participants.
