Maine Field Hockey Association All-State selections

Three area field hockey stars were named to the Maine Field Hockey Association’s North All-State Team for their performances during the 2017 season. Rebecca Batron and Kaitlyn Webber of Dexter Regional High School and Makenzie Beaudry of Foxcroft Academy were among the near 40 players from the region in Classes A, B and C honored.

All-state criteria includes performing consistently at a high skill level, possessing leadership on and off the field, exhibiting excellent sportsmanship and being dedicated to the game of field hockey. High school coaches are able to nominate up to three players from their own team, and candidates are then voted on by coaches across the state with coaches voting on up to 11 players from teams other than their own.

Batron and Webber and Emily Curtis were each named to the Maine Field Hockey Association All-Academic Team. The squad includes 50-plus players from across the state.

The Maine Field Hockey Association will also induct the seniors from the 2003 Dexter field hockey team into its Hall of Fame. These players ended their careers with a 71-0-1 overall record, having never lost a game in their four years playing for the Tigers.

All of the Maine Field Hockey Association honorees will be recognized at a banquet at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3 at the Augusta Civic Center.
