Meeting on creating a volunteer search and rescue team for the county Wednesday evening at Greenville FD

GREENVILLE — The Maine Warden Service is seeking interest from the public to create a volunteer search and rescue team in Piscataquis County. There will be an informational meeting held at the Greenville Fire Department, 10 Minden Street, at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20.

Members of the Maine Warden Service, Maine Association of Search and Rescue (MASAR) and Piscataquis County Emergency Management Agency will be speaking on search and rescue procedures in the state. Training requirements for individuals and groups looking to assist in SAR missions will also be discussed.

Year after year, Piscataquis County generates a large number of search and rescue calls due to its rural nature and vast recreational opportunities. The Maine Warden Service works with MASAR-trained volunteer groups throughout Maine to fulfill its search and rescue mission and encourages those interested in the area to attend this meeting.

Please RSVP to April Collins of the Maine Warden Service at april.collins@maine.gov or 695-3756.
