JSI Store Fixtures’ Clayton Johndro Memorial Golf Tournament raises $27,500 for the children of Milo

MILO — On Aug. 10 JSI Store Fixtures, Inc. and the Three River Kiwanis Club of Milo and Brownville collected $27,500 through the 13th annual Clayton Johndro Memorial Golf Tournament at the Katahdin Country Club.

One hundred percent of the total collected donations are distributed by the Three River Kiwanis to various children’s charities within the community. These include programs such as the local food cupboard ($2,000) Reading is Fundamental ($4,500), the Piscataquis Regional YMCA swim program ($3,000), and Secret Santa ($8,500) which plans to provide more than 200 children with a festive Christmas this year.

From as little as $100 to over $1,000, dozens of local business owners across the country contributed to the final total. Over 60 people participated in the tournament this year.

The annual Clayton Johndro Memorial Golf Tournament is named for the late Clayton Johndro, father of Terry, Barry, and Mark Awalt, one of the original founders of JSI Store Fixtures, Inc. The fundraiser was originally designed as a way to provide food and basic living necessities to the children of Milo. Milo has one of the highest childhood poverty rates in the state, which is also why the Johndro/Awalt family was inspired to create Jean’s Blessings. Jean’s Blessings is a locally recognized annual charitable event that provides food to the children and families of the Milo community that need it the most. The donations from the annual golf tournament also benefit the Jean’s Blessings charity.
