Public input on wind projects sought at Rockwood meeting Wednesday

ROCKWOOD — The Somerset County Commissioners will hold a meeting at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 16 at the Rockwood Community Center at 16 Education Lane (old elementary school on Route 5/16). The purpose of the meeting is assessing public sentiment regarding six proposed industrial wind projects and CMP’s Maine Clean Power Connection 145-mile high voltage transmission corridor.

Moosehead Region Futures Committee will present an update on the projects and the impact of the Massachusetts Dept. of Energy’s RFP for 9.5 million megawatt hours annually of renewable energy during the workshop session. Given the scale and number of proposed projects, the commissioners are seeking input and feedback from concerned citizens on the economic impact of these industrial developments on the region’s tourism industry.
