Missing Skowhegan man located in Monson

MONSON — A 71-year-old man reported missing on June 8 was found alive the following morning in Monson. Maine game wardens and a Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office deputy located Arthur Lowe, 71, shortly after 7 a.m. on Friday, June 9. Game wardens and police had been searching for Lowe since 7 p.m. the previous evening. He had been last seen the day before at 3:30 p.m. where he had been staying with family on Big Bird Road in Skowhegan.

Lowe told family he was going for a short walk and did not return. There were several sighting of Lowe on Route 150 near Cornville and Skowhegan. Game wardens and K9 teams, Maine Search and Rescue Dogs, Warden Service aircraft as well as officers from Skowhegan and Piscataquis County searched for Lowe.

Lowe remarkably made the 30-mile trek to his prior residence in Monson where he was found. It is believed he was given a ride at some point during his walk. Searchers had been at the home many times before Lowe made it to Monson. Lowe was reunited with family.
