Mount Kineo Lodge provides PCHS Project Graduation with $1,000

GUILFORD — Seniors at Piscataquis Community High School received a $1,000 contribution from Mount Kineo Lodge #109 for next month’s Project Graduation, with District No. 5 District Deputy Grand Master Herbert Libby and Mount Kineo Lodge #109 Worshipful Master Thomas Goulette presenting the check to students and parents before a planning meeting on May 4 in the school cafeteria.

“Mount Kineo Lodge agreed to let me do this for Project Graduation at PCHS and I thank them for it,” Libby said before the presentation. “I think it’s a very important project to keep kids involved and not out on the road or worse,” he said about providing safe, supervised post-graduation activities.

Libby said the Masonic Charitable Foundation of the Grand Lodge of Maine will match Lodge contributions to local projects. With the Mount Kineo Lodge having $500 to contribute to PCHS Project Graduation, Libby said the amount being given is doubled to $1,000 as “The Grand Lodge will match two-to-one.”

“My goal is to get every one of the Lodges to support Project Graduation in their schools,” Libby said. He said that in addition to the Mount Kineo Lodge in Guilford, the Fifth District includes Lodges in Brownville, Dexter, Dover-Foxcroft, Greenville, Milo and Sangerville.

“We are going to Caratunk which a whitewater rafting trip,” senior Bailey Woodard said of the Project Graduation excursion following graduation on Sunday, June 11.
