Maine Whoopie Pie Festival honored

BANGOR — The Greater Bangor Convention & Visitors Bureau (GBCVB) and presenting sponsor Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway has announced the winners of the 2017 Tourism and Hospitality Eagle Awards. Dick Stacey and Stacey’s Country Jamboree will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, Carolann Ouellette will receive the award for Individual Achievement and the Maine Whoopie Pie Festival — held annually in downtown Dover-Foxcroft — will receive the GBCVB Impact Award. The recipients will be recognized May 16 at the Lucerne Inn.
Board of Directors Chair Risteen Bahr commented, “Our CVB’s Tourism Awards event is an opportunity to celebrate and honor individuals and organizations whose actions have embodied the mission of the CVB while upholding the ideals of excellence in their field. This year’s honorees have contributed to the heritage, success, and strength of the region. We look forward to applauding their contributions to the hospitality industry on May 16.”
“The GBCVB is honored to present awards to some incredibly talented and deserving individuals, organizations and a great festival,” said Kerrie Tripp, executive director of the GBCVB. “Last year the Maine Whoopie Pie Festival had over 8,000 visitors on a beautiful Saturday in Dover-Foxcroft. They continue to strive to offer amazing locally created whoopie pies from all over the state of Maine.”
